Veterans Housing Scotland

I attended the launch of Veterans Housing Scotland’s campaign to secure 25 more homes for veterans by 2025.

The campaign promotes partnerships between charities and social housing providers which will enable veterans to be nominated for social tenancies – an effective approach which I fully endorse.

2025 campaign

Midlothian Council was the first housing provider to sign up, committing to allocate two properties a year to nominated disabled veterans and their families – an encouraging start. The very talented Edinburgh Military Wives Choir provided splendid entertainment for the evening.

This Tuesday afternoon, there will be a Scottish Parliament debate on Support for the Veterans and Armed Forces Community in Scotland.

I've highlighted the findings of my 2025 progress report to MSPs, including areas where improvement is needed and attention should be focused as a priority.

Last month, I published my report reviewing support for the military bereaved community, who face uniquely complex challenges.
