Celebrating Scotland’s Veterans

I was privileged to attend not one, but two awards ceremonies celebrating some of the amazing achievements of Scotland’s veterans community.

On Tuesday I was at the Scottish Ex-Forces in Business Awards, a celebration of the achievements veterans in the business world and of businesses that demonstrate commitment to recruiting veterans and ensuring they are supported to reach their full potential in the workplace. It was humbling to be surrounded by so much talent on the night.

I was delighted to chat with Scott, a fundraiser for SSAFA, the beneficiary of the awards night, and meet his companion Lincoln.

On Wednesday I attended the Scottish Veterans awards, recognising our veterans in business, fitness, sport and the wider community, reservists who are doing great things, and the organisations doing great things for veterans and their families.

As well as carrying out some maintenance jobs it is a great opportunity for those who formerly served in the Royal Yacht to share experiences and camaraderie. @royalyachtbritannia

It was a true privilege to join the Army Widows’ Association for their AGM dinner on Friday. On #VEDay we remember those who served during WWII to achieve peace in Europe. We honour the courage of all who served, laying the foundation for the peace and freedoms we enjoy today. We acknowledge the sacrifice of those who did not come home, and the loved ones who grieved their loss. We will remember them. #LestWeForget
